WHO AM I?

Hey!

I’m Mark O’Donnell, aka Mark OD from my many years as a DJ. I began writing about the Manchester drum & bass scene during its rise to global prominence in the late 90s and 00s. That’s where it all started.

As a DJ, event promoter and writer, I lived and breathed every aspect of the culture and documented all the key players through specialist print publications Knowledge and Atmosphere, subsequently becoming editor of ATM and interviewing everyone from Andy C to Jill Scott and Dizzee Rascal. I’ve always had my ear to the ground.

I’ve also written for Mixmag, Time Out and Bandcamp Daily. Writing about underground music artists and scenes is one of my great passions. I’ve recently co-authored a book on the late great Marcus Intalex which will be out in October 2024 via Velocity Press.

Since the noughties, I’ve specialised in editorial and digital content for brands. Initially as an editor for Time Out London, and then in leadership roles. GoPro, British Airways, Google, Talisker and Visit Britain are a few of the brands I’ve worked with. You can find examples in the branded content section of this website.

In 2023, I took on a role heading up community for footwear brand Vivobarefoot. This involved mobilising a global creator/ambassador network across social channels. A personal highlight during my time: I organised a call with Timbaland’s team which started the conversation about a partnership (he’s now a brand ambassador for Vivo).
